Early in the afternoon on December fourth, Los Banos dispatch was notified of a motor vehicle accident that had occurred in the Presidential Estates neighborhood. Within minutes, paramedics, police, and fire units were on the scene at the corner of Jefferson and Sixth streets. When the public safety crew arrived, they found a Ford F250 pickup with damage to to the front end. They also found Toyota Corolla with a person needing assistance in the front passenger seat. The Corolla, which had significant damage to the right hand side, had come to rest at an odd angle with its right rear wheel on a strip of lawn a few feet above the curb. As police, fire, and paramedics worked to help those who were involved in the accident, the Los Banos Fire Department simultaneously went into action to force open the right hand passenger door of the Corolla. Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools (commonly referred to as the 'Jaws Of Life') to completely remove the door in order to facilitate the extraction of a patient who was shortly thereafter taken to the hospital via ambulance.
If everyone in Los Banos would just take 1 or 2 hours a month to do something to help their neighborhood or their community we could truly make Los Banos the gem of the valley. The above is only my personal opinion and I strongly encourage readers to seek out more information from expert sources. Copyright 2009 | | |||
