For many residents, the fun and revelry of parties were the order of the evening on New Year's Eve, but for many of those involved in police work and emergency medical services, the start of 2010 was a time of much-increased activity. For Los Banos, ringing in the new decade included an increase in police and fire department dispatches. Los Banos's emergency service units were kept busy from before sunset until way into the wee hours of the new year with a broad range of calls that included reports of illegal fireworks, allegedly drunk drivers, domestic disturbances, possible shots fired, motor vehicle accidents and more.

2010 was not even two hours old when the accompanying photo of a vehicle involved in what appeared to be a multiple roll-over accident was taken on Ortigalita Road.

The vehicle had left the roadway and come to rest at the bottom of the small embankment which borders the field to the west. After being examined by EMS and fire personnel, an occupant of the vehicle was transported to the hospital via ambulance.

If everyone in Los Banos would just take 1 or 2 hours a month to do something to help their neighborhood or their community we could truly make Los Banos the gem of the valley.
