The statue of the Queen Isabelle of Portugal (portrayed in this float as Saint Isabelle due to her good deeds to the poor and starving people of Portugal) arrives at the DES Festa in Los Banos California. The Queen is the reason for the tradition we now celebrate the festas. Google up the story of her if you are interested. The story is of her hiding the food scraps in her cape as she went to feed the poor.. when her angry husband spied on her and caught her only to find that when she opened her cape roses fell out.
