The Los Banos Creek reservoir area is known for its wonderful fishing particularly near the dam. I think officially this area is part of the San Luis State Recreation Area but we break it off onto it's own little page because most of the locals do not think of it in that way.

The LosBanos creek is well known fishing spot is stocked with trout and there are regular fishing derbies here. Bluegill, Bass, and Crapie are regularly pulled from the water by the happy folks with the thin poles.

There are developed camping spots available at The Los Banos Creek recreation area for those who want to use them and the surrounding hills can be fun to hike and explore. Beware however that these areas are a known habitat to lots of wildlife and the critter holes are also home to snakes. Bring a bite kit and know your limitations.

There is a small beachfront near the dam where people regularly go to play in the water. The rest of the 12 miles of shoreline is varied in topography but is mostly pretty steep-walled.

Boating activities can be accommodated. There is one boat ramp.

Location & Directions: From I-5, exit East on Highway 152, continue east to Volta Road, right turn on Volta to Pioneer Road, Left turn on Pioneer road to Canyon Road, right turn on Canyon Road to Park. Canyon Road runs straight in to park.
