Description from their About Us Page:

"In 1992 a small group of citizens began meeting to research and discuss the idea of establishing a community foundation in the greater Los Banos area. The idea was first suggested as a way children's activities could obtain funding without endless fundraising by parents and children to "make things happen." Several members of that original group kept this goal in mind and in 2002 began work again, this time enlarging the concept to include all areas of community need. This larger goal came to fruition in 2002 when the Westside Community Board of Directors was formed and tax-exempt status was obtained. Through the Westside Community Foundation, hundreds of individuals, families and businesses have the opportunity to contribute funds to support programs and projects they care about and that are meaningful to our community. The endowment funds will ensure that resources are available to address the changing needs of Merced County's Westside residents today and for generations to come."
