"The Los Banos Volunteers for Animals (LBVFA) works closely with the Los Banos Animal Control Officer in finding homes for unwanted or stray pets. The volunteers also work with many rescue groups in order to save many pets from being euthanized. They have between 10-15 foster families who care for cats and dogs while they work on finding them a permanent home. All adopted pets are spayed or neutered before going to their new home. If pets need medical care the volunteers make sure they are cared for by local vets. They also educate the general public on how to care for their pets and give presentations to children at school. They hold many fundraisers to cover medical, food, literature and transportation costs. They give many hours in many ways, transporting, fostering, opening the shelter on Saturdays for the public, and holding adoption fairs. "
