Christmas is a magical time of year and it is a time that was set aside for us to remember the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a time for reflection but it is also a time for families to come together and have some fun. Fun in decorating and fun in viewing all the magical sights and special events of the Christmas Season.

As kids we remember the great joy of driving around in our parent's cars and viewing the lights. We want to see that happen for the kids in Los Banos in a really big way!

We are two Christians who would really like our home-town to get more into the Christmas spirit this year. So we are throwing a city-wide Christmas decorating contest!

On the weekend of December 16 and 17 the two of us will drive around Los Banos on both nights between 5 and 10 PM. We will note the addresses of each place we have enjoyed and judge it on our own scale. We will choose the twentyfive best places that we see and mail out gift cards that can be used at Local Los Banos businesses to those twenty five most festive homes.

We will give awards in the following categories:

SPECIAL CATEGORIES:
Best Decorated House With A CHRISTIAN Theme 150 dollars worth of gift cards
Best Decorated House with a ANY Christmas Theme 100 dollars worth of gift cards
Best Lighted Cross Decoration 50 dollars worth of gift cards
Best MANGER SCENE 50 dollars worth of gift cards
Most Unique / Unusual / Special Decor / Theme 50 Dollars worth of gift cards

OTHER CATEGORY:
Honorable Mention Homes twenty more 20 dollar gift cards will be mailed out to twenty families homes that have caught our eyes.

Participation:

To participate all you have to do is decorate your front yard or the exterior of your house. Anyone may nominate any home in Los Banos by posting to this website's forum thing in the events area as a reply to this post. You can nominate your own place or you can nominate a place you have seen decorated nicely.

The webmaster of this board sais to NOT post specific individual addresses on this site so please post JUST the NAME OF THE STREET and if it is a long road post the closest cross-street. Make sure you keep your decorations lit up during the hours and days we said. We will also look on our own for places that might not be posted here before that weekend. Our judging criteria are our own and our judgement is final.

We will post the names of the streets that the winners are on here before Christmas Eve so you can go see them too!

You can nominate houses for us to pay special attention to like we said.

You can also cover our tracks. We would like the whole town to go out driving on Dec 16 and 17 and looking at Christmas lights. Make it a family night and pack up some thermoses of hot chocolate and cookies - take the kids and go see what everyone has put up! We will drive around both nights between 5 and 10 PM and if you do the same you can help us remain anonymous!

If this works out well we will make this an annual event.
