29 - June 2 - May 29 - June 2 - Attend a free movement workshop and
make a movement choir. A movement choir is a cance made by the community; simple
and fun gestrues and movements are created by the participating individuals. The
movements reflect the participant' personal, civic, and spiritual identities.
Visiting dance artists will help create the movement choirs. Ages 8 - 108 are
welcome to participate. Drop by the Ted Falasco Arts Center during the workshop
times and tell your story about living in Los Banos. It will be recored and added
to a film made about the project. Participants should wear comfortable clothes
and shoes you can move in.
You do not need to attend all days. Please feel
free to drop in on any day.

On Thursday from 3-6 p.m. there will be a special event for
youth groups - a talk about preparig for college/univeristy life and what it means
to be an artist. Dinner is provided.
On Saturday there will be a performance
in the parking lot of Arteaga's Market at 8 p.m. and a community potluck at Ted
Falasco Arts Center.
June 1-3 - D. E. S. Festa:
a celebration held in honor of the Holy Spirit begun by Queen Isabel of Portugal.
Friday the 1st: Bullfight at the Fairgrounds.
Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and the bullfights begin at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday:
Tthere will be a rosary at the D.E.S Chapel at 7:30 p.m. After the rosary there
will be dancing by Chico Avila at 9 p.m.
Sunday: There will be a procession
where representatives from other Portuguese organizations and saints will be carried
from the D.E.S Hall to St. Josephs Church. Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. After
the Mass there will be a return procession back the D.E.S. Hall where sopas (a
Portuguese meal of long-cooked beef with cabbage with the sauce poured over french
bread) will be served followed by an auction at 1:30 p.m. The Celebration
will end with a rosary at 7 p.m. followed by sopas at 7:30 and dancing by Progresso
at 9 p.m.

the First Baptist Church for Project Jabez. The dinner will be at the United Methodist

dishes and water. Sodas and desserts will be available for an additional charge.

Kids will make new friends, learn new games, and make craft projects. Summer Fun
Camp helps develop skills, builds confidence, and provides a safe, supervised
environment for kids. All children from kindergarten through those entering sixth
grade are able to join the program. During the summer there will be swimming,
field trips, and other fun activities. Camp headquarters is located at the Germino
Building in the Fair Grounds. Recreation staff will provide two snacks daily (morning
and afternoon), however participants will need to bring a lunch daily.

19 - The chamber will hold their annual installation of officers and directors
starting with a social at 6:00 pm with dinner set for 6:30 pm. Cost for the dinner
will be $12.00 per person and will require reservations and payment by June 15th
at noon at the chamber office. A notice and invitation will be in the mail to
members and friends by May 15th. In addition to the installation, the chamber
will be honoring two individuals and one business with an award for their service.
One award will be for the Business Person of the Year and one award will be for
the Business of the Year. The third award will be the annual Wilma Keokuk award
for the Chamber Volunteer of the Year.
