October 2 - The Native Sons of the Golden West are holding a Pasta and Italian Sausage Drive-Thru Dinner.
Tickets are $8.00 and benefit a scholarship fund.

October 3 - Susan G Komen Foundation Fundraiser. Please stop by the Ivy Cottage at 1036 6th Street with a donation that will go towards finding the cure for breast cancer. Donations are accepted through the month of October!

October 3 - City Council Candidates Forum 7 p.m. at City Hall, 520 J St.

October 3 - I Can Cope 4 Week Program Begins. This program for cancer survivor or family members will be hosted by Memorial Hospital. Dinner is served at 5:45 p.m. and the meeting begins at 6 p.m. The program will continue on October 10th, 17th, and 24th. Call 827-4340 for more information.

October 3 - League of Women Voters Meeting at 6:15 p.m. in the lobby of Los Banos City Hall.

October 4 - The first Wednesday of each month is the regular dinner meeting night of the Los Banos Sportsmen’s Association. Guests are welcome.

October 11 - A 6 week safesitter course begins at Memorial Hospital. Classes are held on Wednesday afternoons from 4-6pm and costs $20. Call 826-0591 for more detailed class information or to register.

October 11 - 6:00 p.m. pot luck dinner at St. Alban's Episcopal Church followed by a presentation on Alaska given by two members of the congregation. These members have returned from conducting Vacation Bible School in some small Alaskan towns that are seldom serviced by any religious entity.

October 12 - School Board Meeting at City Hall, 7 PM

October 13 - Grand Reopening of Dutra's Nightclub (830 I street) with live entertainment.
2-3 bands every Friday and Saturday from the 13th on until Christrimas. $5.00 cover
Tonight's bands: Dark Horse, Track Fighter, Blair
21+ with I.D.

October 14 - Our Lady of Fatima - Casino Night at DES Hall (1155 I St). 6-8 p.m. for dinner and 7 - 11 p.m. for gambling with horse racing, black-jack and a Texas Hold'em Poker tournament. Donations are $30 per person which includes $20 worth of gaming scrip and a steak dinner.

October 14 - Carseat safety class offered at Memorial Hospital. The cost of the class is $20 and you can receive a car seat for attending. Contact Cheryl Hixson at 826-0591 ext. 270.

October 14 - Fall Festival at Charleston Elementary with games, prizes, cake walk, bingo, food, game booths and a bounce house! 11 a.m. -3 p.m. at the school. For more info call 826-5270.

October 14 - Grand Reopening of Dutra's Nightclub (830 I street) with live entertainment.

October 14 - Fall Cleanup at the parking lot at corner of 4th & F Street (Fairgrounds parking lot behind the health department). Bring in your chemicals (such as motor oil, car batteries, etc. as well as consumer electronic devices (VCR's, computers, microwaves, etc.). October 15 - Dog Day in the Park (at Pacheco Park). 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
This is a fundraiser to help support the Los Banos Volunteers for Animals. These are the folks who help save hundreds of animals each year and volunteer their time and efforts at the town's animal shelter.
Bring your dog to the park and have a great time participating in the contests! There will be contests for the "fastest sit", pet costumes, the best trick and so on. There will also be a silent auction. Come and help support animal rescue.

October 15 - Abarca Group Recital at the Arts Center. Call 827-3544.

October 15 - In honor of St. Francis, the patron Saint of Animals, there will be an Animal Blessing at St. Alban's Episcopal Church at the 10:00 A. M. service. Everyone is welcome to bring either a live animal (on a leash or in a cage), a stuffed one or a picture of one. A barbecue will follow the service and participants are asked to bring a side dish to share and /or sodas. The meat will be supplied. Call 826-9182

October 19 - Milliken Museum Fundraiser Lunch from 11 a.m. -1:30 p.m. at the Los Banos Elks Lodge, 565 E. Street. Tickets are available at the Los Banos Flower Shop and Gifts, 624 K Street for $8.00. Tickets purchase a pasta and meatball lunch with a slice of homemade pie.

October 21 - American Heart Association: American Heart Walk.
8 a.m. registration with team photos. 9 a.m. ribbon cutting and 3 mile walk. There will be a brunch after the walk prepared by the Los Banos Fire Department. This activity happens in Pacheco Park. Visit the heartwalk website for more information or call 723-2974

October 21 - State Parks: 6th Annual Native California Peoples Fall Gathering. 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Call: 826-1196.

October 21 - Dachshund Group October Meetup at 1 p.m. at Pacheco Park. You can RSVP by clicking here and signing up.

October 21 - Free Mammograms by appointment at Memorial Hospital in the radiology department. You must be over 40 years or older with a primary care physician. Call 826-0591 extension 234.

October 21 - New Beginnings Roving Parade. The event begins at 10 a.m. at Meadowlands Park I (also known as Snowgoose) and go to City Park at 11 a.m. and end up at Ranchwood Park at noon. There will be face painting, musicians, clowns, bounce houses and more.

October 24 - SHOUT Auditions (Sharing Hope Opportunity Uplift Together, formerly the Los Banos Community Youth Choir) at 3:30 p.m. at the Ted Falasco Arts Center.

October 25 - Planning Commission Meeting at City Hall, 7:00 p.m.

October 25 - College Readiness Fair from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Merced College Los Banos Campus: 16570 South Mercey Springs Road.

October 26 - Chamber Mixer at Wal-Mart, 5:30 p.m.

October 26 - In Shape City's Halloween Party 6 to 8 p.m. with games and trick or treating. Free workouts and membership specials available. Adults are welcome too!

October 27 - YLI Enchilada Fund-raiser. $6.00 for a pan of two. Tickets are on sale by any YLI member or call 827-0667.

October 27 - 29 - Harvest Festival Fund Raiser at the Stevinson Equestrian Center.
There is no admission fee, but there is a $2.00 on site parking fee.
Activity tickets are $1.00 each, concert on Saturday is a separate admission of $15.00 with children 12 and under FREE.
Each day: Horse and pony rides, jump house, games, children's haunted house, pumpkins and prizes, food and beverage vendors.
Friday: 5:00-6:00 p.m.. karaoke contest
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. scavenger hunt, 1:00 p.m. pumpkin painting contest, 3:00-6:00 p.m. concert by "Ventura Highway" - music of the 70's (Eagles, Credence and more)
Sunday: 2:00 p.m. kids costume contest

October 28 - Free sibling class from 10 AM to 11 AM at Memorial Hospital.

October 28 - 7:30 p.m. Concert at the Ted Falasco Arts Center: Patrick Ball a Celtic harpist and storyteller.

October 28 - Crane Day at the Merced Wildlife Refuge Complex. Guided tours begin at 8 a.m. from the refuge's kiosk south of Sandy Mush Road. Come and celebrate the return of the sandhill cranes! For more information call 209-826-3508 or 209-587-0516.

October 28 - Elk's Drug & Safety Awareness Day 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Wal-Mart parking lot. There will be people detailing how to put together an Earthquake kit. There will be a safe pumpkin carving discussion or demonstration for the kids. There will be Veterinary folks talking about how to keep your pets safe and happy on Halloween. There will be people doing fingerprinting for the kids (parents keep the prints) There will be a similar thing for DAN (again parents will keep the kits) and a WHOLE lot more.

October 28 - 31st - Rec Dept. Dayz of Terror from 6 to 10 p.m. at Pacheco Park in the Recreation Center. Entry fee is $1.00.

October 30 - Sunset chat with city council candidate Tom Faria beginning at 5 p.m. at Tony Dutra's, 830 I street. Come by for a chance to meet the candidate, and discuss your views and hopes. A casual fun time to relax, enjoy some coffee and dessert, and get to know each other! If there are any Seniors out there who would like to attend but have no transportation we will be happy to pick you up! October 31 - Halloween Event at Fire Station One

October 31 - The City of Los Banos Recreation Department is having its annual Halloween Carnival on October 31st at Pacheco Park from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be games, fun activitie, a costume contest for children and a haunted house. October 31 - Calvary Baptist Harvest Party, 6 - 9 p.m.

October 31 - 3rd Annual Free Haunted House. UNICEF donations are being encouraged. It will be Halloween Night only, from 6 PM until 9 PM. The address is 739 Windsor Court here in Los Banos.

October 31 - Hallelujah festival at Henry Miller Plaza 5 to 8:30 p.m. Lots of different churches will be there!

Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Los Banos Recreation Hall in Pacheco Park
Monday through Friday from noon to 1 p.m.
Wednesday and Saturday evenings from 7 to 8 p.m.

Alcoholics Anonymous Serenity at Noon Group meets Mondays through Fridays in the recreation hall at 903 Pacheco Blvd. from noon to 1 p.m.
They also meet on Wednesday and Saturday evenings from 7 to 8 p.m.

Narcotics Anonymous meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Greyhound Bus Depot, 820 G St.

Victory Outreach 12-Step Substance abuse group meets every Monday 7:30 p.m. at 1231 Fourth St. in the rear building.
